COLUMBUS, Neb. - Nebraska Public Power District’s (NPPD) mutual aid team has completed its work in Augusta, Georgia, and is now on standby to assist in Florida after Hurricane Milton.
The team, consisting of 12 line technicians, a fleet technician, and two supervisors, wrapped up its efforts in Augusta on Thursday morning and will remain in Covington, Georgia, before heading to Florida on Friday to aid the Orlando Utility Commission.
The crew initially left the York Operations Center on October 3, responding to Georgia Power's need for support after Hurricane Helene, which had left over 141,000 customers without power.
By Thursday morning, power outages in Georgia had dropped to just over 1,500. NPPD's team members come from various locations, including Ainsworth, Kearney, Norfolk, and more.
