ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - In celebration of National Fossil Day next Wednesday, the Rolling Hills Library Belt Branch will host a special event at 7 p.m. featuring retired Northwest Missouri State University geology professor Dr. John Pope.
Held in the Belt Community Room, Doctor Pope will speak about the natural history of northern Missouri, including the region’s fossils, rocks, and minerals.
Attendees are encouraged to bring any fossils or rocks they’ve collected, as Doctor Pope will be on hand to help identify them. Dr. Pope has also served as curator of Northwest's Geoscience Museum.
