St. Joseph Police investigating deadly weekend shooting

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting.

The victim of fatal shooting in the 2200 block of South 14th Street has been identified as 30-year-old Melchizedek Fitzgerald, who lived at the home where the incident occurred Sunday. Fitzgerald was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others were injured: a 20-year-old from Johnson County, Kansas, was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital in critical condition, and another 20-year-old from Atchison, Kansas, is in critical but stable condition at Mosaic Life Care.

Police say there is no indication of additional suspects involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
