ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - St. Joseph is gearing up for the 100th anniversary of two iconic buildings: City Hall and the Missouri Theater, which both opened in 1927.

To kick off the three-year celebration leading up to the centennial in 2027, a series of free events is planned for October 18-19.

On Friday, October 18, the Centennial Graphics by artist Wendy Jane Bantam will be unveiled at First Christian Church, starting at 4:30 p.m. with artist remarks and historical anecdotes at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, October 19, the Downtown Library will host a creative writing workshop from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a concert that evening at 7 p.m., featuring Bantam and local musician Lory Lacy.

These events, celebrating the rich history and artistry of St. Joseph, are free to the public. For more details, visit the St. Joseph Public Library’s website or contact event organizers.
