JEFFERSON CITY Mo. - The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has named Ed Hassinger as the new director of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).

Hassinger, who has over 40 years of experience with MoDOT, will lead the department through an unprecedented number of infrastructure projects, including the I-70 expansion to six lanes, I-44 improvements, and repairs to nearly 1,000 bridges across the state.

Officials say that Hassinger’s extensive experience is crucial to keeping these projects on schedule and on budget as part of MoDOT’s $14.6 billion Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan.

Hassinger has committed to working closely with a new advisory council to focus on safety, local partnerships, workforce retention, and innovative technology to improve Missouri’s transportation system.
