JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Young hunters in Missouri had a successful early youth deer hunting season this year.
Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that hunters aged 6 to 15 hunted nearly 14,000 deer over the weekend of November 2 and 3.
Franklin County led with 285 deer harvested, followed by Howell with 273, and Texas with 265. The breakdown includes 9,852 antlered bucks, 3,102 does, and 969 button bucks.
This year’s harvest numbers surpass last year’s early youth portion total of 11,270. The regular firearms season opens next on November 16 and runs through November 26, followed by additional hunting portions into January.
