MSHP: KS man killed in rural MO wreck

UTICA, Mo. - A fatal crash occurred Friday afternoon on US 36, two miles west of Utica in Livingston County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at 2:20 p.m. when a westbound 2017 Lexus GX4 driven by a 44-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas, collided with the rear of a towed unit attached to a 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck.

The semi, driven by a 70-year-old Chillicothe man, was slowing to make a right turn when the collision occurred.

The Lexus overturned and came to rest in the westbound passing lane, while the semi ended up in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.

The driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash.
