JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri’s job market saw growth in October 2024, with nonfarm payroll employment rising by 5,400 jobs, bringing the total to over three million jobs statewide.
The private sector added 1,600 jobs, while government jobs increased by 3,800, largely in local government positions.
Over the past year, employment has risen by 81,700 jobs, with notable gains in education, health services, leisure, and hospitality.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped slightly to 3.8% in October. Although this is up from 3.3% a year ago, it remains lower than the national rate of 4.1% percent.
