WASHINGTON - According to Politico, Northern Missouri Congressman Sam Graves is reportedly a candidate for U.S. transportation secretary in President-elect Donald Trump's administration.
The Republican from Tarkio was recently reelected to his 13th term in Missouri's 6th Congressional District, defeating Democrat Pam May with about 70% of the vote.
As current chair of the U.S. House Transportation Committee, Graves has emphasized the need for infrastructure improvements, especially in northern Missouri.
Politico describes Graves as highly experienced in transportation policy, holding a special pilot’s license and earning bipartisan respect on Capitol Hill.
Outgoing Louisiana Congressman Garrett Graves is also named as a possible contender for the role.
