ST. LOUIS - Former Missouri Republican leader Ed Martin has been recently named chief of staff at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget by President-elect Donald Trump.
Martin, a former Missouri GOP state chairman and chief of staff to Governor Matt Blunt, brings decades of political experience to the role.
He has also chaired the St. Louis Election Board and made unsuccessful bids for a St. Louis-area U.S. House seat and Missouri attorney general.
Trump highlighted Martin’s contributions to conservative politics, including co-authoring the 2016 book “The Conservative Case for Trump” with the late Phyllis Schlafly, a key conservative icon.
Martin previously served as director of Schlafly’s Eagle Forum organization and was a frequent Trump defender on CNN in 2017 before being let go.
Martin will work alongside Trump’s newly named OMB director, Russell Vought, who held the same position in Trump’s first administration.
Martin is the latest St. Louis-area figure tapped for Trump’s new administration, joining D. John Sauer, named U.S. solicitor general, and Will Scharf, appointed White House staff secretary.
