SAVANNAH, Mo. - In the city of Savannah, there are now numerous updates with building codes, as well as the new prohibition of metal buildings.
City Administrator Bruce Lunday says the city is updating their building codes to the most up to date version, ICC 2024. He stated the ICC building codes work as a guide to construct in a safe and well manner.
The city of Savannah was using ICC codes from 18 years ago, back in 2006, before their current update. With the new building codes also comes a new prohibition of using metal buildings as homes in the city.
While city codes already stated that living in metal structures was illegal, this new update adds new building types to the list; storage sheds, as well as storage trailers.
