JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation shows young hunters aged six to 15 killed 2,530 deer during Missouri’s late youth portion of the 2024 firearms deer season, held November 29 through December 1.
The hunt included 1,046 antlered bucks, 270 button bucks, and 1,214 does. Pike County led the way with 58 deer killed, followed by Harrison and Lincoln counties, each with 55.
This year’s total marks a decline from last year’s late youth hunting numbers of 3,617 deer. Archery deer hunting remains open through January 15th.
The late antlerless portion of firearms deer season starts this Saturday and runs through December 15 in open counties, and the alternative methods portion follows from December 28 to January 7.
