KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Water releases from Gavins Point Dam into the Missouri River have been reduced to their winter levels, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Corps reports that flows are now at 12,000 cubic feet per second, down from 32,000 cubic feet per second in late November.

The reduction began on November 23 as part of the seasonal shift, with navigation flow support ending on December 1 at St. Louis.

The Corps is carefully monitoring river conditions to manage impacts of ice formation on lower river stages. Releases will be adjusted as needed throughout the winter.

These lower release levels are a routine part of the Corps’ annual river management strategy.
