JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released preliminary crash statistics from the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday, reporting 361 total crashes between November 27 and December 1.

These incidents resulted in four fatalities, 120 injuries, and 106 DWI arrests. While the number of dangerous crashes slightly decreased compared to last year, the toll remains significant.

In 2023, troopers also reported four fatalities but 138 injuries during the same holiday period. The first fatality occurred on November 27 when a Monett man crossed the center line, colliding head-on with another vehicle.

He was killed, and the other driver suffered serious injuries. On November 30, a Winfield man was killed as a passenger in a car struck by another vehicle.

The third fatality involved a Columbia man who lost control of his car, hit a rock bluff, and was ejected. On December 1, a Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, man was partially ejected in a single-vehicle rollover crash and died on the scene.
