JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - New pesticide rules are set to take effect in Missouri starting January 1, changing the requirements for private pesticide applicator licenses.
The updates align with new federal regulations from the EPA and will impact the state’s nearly 18,000 private pesticide applicators.
These rules affect those applying restricted-use pesticides, classified as highly toxic and available only to licensed applicators.
To meet the new standards, applicators must now consider factors like age, supervision, and course completion to obtain or renew their licenses.
The University of Missouri Extension will host training workshops across the state beginning January 1, offering in-person sessions that last up to four hours for $75.
Online training options are also available, as well as testing through 17 Pearson Vue sites in Missouri for those who prefer to skip training. For details on workshops, online courses, or testing, visit muext.us/pat.
