RED OAK, Iowa- The holiday spirit is coming to Red Oak as the Wilson Performing Arts Center presents "Prancer," opening this weekend.
Performances run this weekend and December 20 through 22, with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and matinees at 2:30 p.m.
Directed by Tracy Rhodes, the play is based on the beloved 1989 film and tells the story of young Jessica Riggs, who finds an injured deer she believes belongs to Santa.
Rhodes says the story brings a sense of magic and hope as Jessica’s efforts unite her family and community.
Madison Ripplinger stars as Jessica, alongside John Olson as her father, Jill Gandy as Aunt Sarah, and Brody Jones as Jessica’s brother.
With a cast of 25 actors ranging from children to adults, the production features unique challenges, including a full-sized, puppeted reindeer created by the set team.
