Kansas State, Bill Snyder Classic return to St. Joseph in December

Kansas State will face Middle Tennessee State in the Bill Snyder Classic on December 14.

Serena Sundell's final college basketball season will include a return trip to northwest Missouri.

St. Joseph Sports Commission executive director Brett Esely announced Thursday that the 2nd annual Bill Snyder Women's Basketball Classic will pit Kansas State against Middle Tennessee at the Civic Arena in downtown St. Joseph.

“We have a lot of sports momentum on several levels in St. Joseph right now and to have the honor of once again hosting Division I Women’s Basketball College Basketball between two programs that won a combined 56 games last season including each winning a game in the NCAA Tournament will be an absolute thrill and must ticket come this December,” Esely said in a release.

The Wildcats cruised to an 84-56 victory over the Missouri Tigers in front of a capacity crowd during the first Snyder Classic last December. Sundell, a Maryville native, finished with 11 points and eight rebounds playing in front of friends, family and supporters from across the region.

Sundell was named First Team All-Big 12 at the conclusion of her junior season, and has posted 1,263 points (12.3 ppg) and 549 assists (5.3 apg) as a Wildcat.

K-State went 26-8 during the 2023-24 campaign, including a trip to the NCAA Tournament. In the Bill Snyder Classic they will see a Blue Raiders squad coming off of a 30-5 season and NCAA Tournament berth.

Ticket information will be released in August at stjomosports.com.
