Three-time all-state performer Jaxson Staples signed with Bellevue University.
Maryville High School soccer standout Jaxson Staples signed his letter of intent Tuesday to continue his playing career at Bellevue University.
Staples joins a Bruins squad that won 14 games last fall and reached the national tournament. The Maryville senior had offers from other schools, but ultimately knew he wanted to be at a place with a winning culture.
"I knew I wanted to be at a high-level soccer program no matter where I went, and I just knew that they could compete in the national tournament every year." Staples said. It's the place I wanted to be."
Staples earned Missouri Class 1 First Team All-State honors from the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association for his senior season, and was second Team all-state goalkeeper in both 2021 and 2022. During his career, the Maryville boys won districts all four years and finished in third place at state twice.
He said he hopes his legacy rests on the team success of the Spoofhounds throughout his career.
"That we did something great here, won a lot of district championships...had an impact here at Maryville High."
Staples and the Spoofhounds posted a 52-21-1 record over the last four years.
