 St. Joseph will be the home to Missouri's high school football state championships for the next five years.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association announced Tuesday morning that St. Joseph will serve as the primary host for the Show-Me Bowl games from 2024-2028.

The 8-man football state title game will be at Spratt Stadium on the Missouri Western State University campus next season. The championship games for Classes 1-6 will be played at the University of Missouri's Faurot Field in the fall of 2024.

Beginning in 2025, Classes 1-6 will join the 8-man championship at Spratt Stadium.

"We appreciate the work the cities put into this bid process, and we have taken this process very seriously," MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Rukstad said in a statement. “We have an obligation to our membership to find not only the best facilities to host our championships, but also the best support from the host site to serve our schools’ needs. We are very excited about the next five years for the Show-Me Bowl!”

The St. Joseph Sports Commission partnered with Missouri Western on the bid to bring the football state title games to northwest Missouri.

“We have been extremely fortunate to host a wide variety of high-profile events over the last several months and cannot wait to welcome our state’s best high school football teams to an outstanding venue here in St. Joseph and Buchanan County,” Executive Director of the St. Joseph Sports Commission Brett Esely added. “In conjunction with our partner Missouri Western State University, we look forward to delivering an outstanding championship experience for all involved!”

 The 2024 8-man state title game will be the first championship at Spratt Stadium since 2007. The venue, which is home to Griffon football, soccer and lacrosse, was the home to the 8-man championship for a decade before it moved to the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis in 2008.
