Kason Teale signed to play soccer at West Texas A&M.
Four-time all-state performer Kason Teale will continue his soccer career at the NCAA Divsion 2 level next season.
The Maryville High School senior signed with West Texas A&M Tuesday morning.
Teale guided the Spoofhounds to four winning seasons across his high school career, and looks to keep that rolling with a program in Canyon, TX that consistently competes for NCAA Tournament berths.
"West Texas is a very dominant school down there in the Lone Star Conference," Teale said. "(Head coach Butch Lauffer) has been there for about 33 years now and he's only had one losing season. They're a very strong program."
The Buffaloes are getting a competitor that's helped raise the level of Spoofhound soccer.
Maryville won districts all four years during Teale's career, and earned a pair of third place finishes at state.
Spoofhound head coach Matt Stoecklein believes Teale's soccer IQ and talent make him a candidate to play collegieately, but its his dedication to continue working in the off-season that sets him apart.
"He's out there on the pitch, him and Jaxson Staples, two kids going onto play college soccer. There's a reason why. Not only because of his skill – because of his work ethic and how much time he spends at it."
Maryville boys soccer posted a 17-4 record last fall including a 5-0 shutout in the Class 1 third place game. Teale was named First Team All-State by the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association for the third consecutive season. He was also all-state honorable mention as a freshman.
