CLARINDA, Iowa - The Lied Public Library in Clarinda is hosting a special traveling exhibit in next month, celebrating the life and work of acclaimed Iowa writer Ruth Suckow.

Suckow, praised by literary critic H.L. Mencken as "the most remarkable woman writing short stories in the Republic," authored 43 short stories, nine novels, and numerous essays.

Her works offer a deep exploration of Iowa life from the 1880s through World War II, drawing on her experiences living in various Iowa towns as the daughter of a Congregational minister.

The exhibit features informational panels detailing Suckow's life, legacy, and contributions to literature. Visitors can view it throughout February at the library. For more information, visit clarindapubliclibrary.org or call 712-542-2416.
