MAYSVILLE, Mo. - A new live history series is kicking off in Maysville later this month. The DeKalb County Historical Society will present "Experience History" on Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. in the June Conley Building.
The event will feature a reenactment of Deborah Samson, a Massachusetts colonist who disguised herself as a man to fight in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
Actress and reenactor Anna Smith will bring Samson’s story to life, sharing her experiences on the battlefield and beyond. Tickets are available, but the event is free for anyone 18 and under.
Proceeds support the preservation of DeKalb County history and future presentations. Tickets are available at missouridchs.com, at the door, or at Lot Community Coffee in Maysville.
