ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- Rolling Hills Library will celebrate Black literature at its sixth annual African American Read-In on Sunday, February 23, at the Belt Branch Upper Story in St. Joseph.

The event, which begins at 3 p.m., is open to all ages and will feature community members reading works by Black authors, including historical and contemporary pieces, poetry, children’s books, and original works.

Light refreshments will be provided. The National African American Read-In was founded in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a key part of Black History Month.

Since then, it has reached more than six million participants worldwide. For more information about the event and other library programs, visit rhcl.org or call 816-232-5479.
