TRENTON, Mo. - A Trenton teen was seriously injured in a crash after losing control on an icy bridge in Grundy County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5 a.m. Thursday on Route A, about three and a half miles northwest of Trenton.

An 18-year-old driver was heading west in a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 when he lost control on the ice-covered bridge. His vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree, and came to rest on its wheels.

Emergency crews transported the teen to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton before he was later transferred to Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City. Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
