SAVANNAH, Mo. - A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 71 north of Savannah sent a 20-year-old woman to the hospital Saturday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. when a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, driven by the Savannah woman, collided with the rear of a horse trailer being towed by a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.

The Silverado, driven by a 31-year-old Savannah man, was slowing down to make a right turn when the Impala struck the trailer.

The impact left the Impala with total damage, while the Silverado sustained moderate damage but was able to be driven from the scene.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported by Andrew County Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Authorities say she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Andrew County Sheriff’s Office.
