CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - The 18th Annual Polar Plunge at Simpson Park was a chilly success, raising $7,700 for Special Olympics Missouri. 22 brave participants took a freezing dip on February 1, all for a good cause.
Fundraising is still ongoing, with organizers hoping to reach their $10,000 goal. Donations can be made at Plunge-MO-DOT-org by selecting the Chillicothe Plunge.
Top fundraiser honors went to Decker Rardon, while Chillicothe Correctional Center was the top fundraising team. Chillicothe High School took home the Golden Plunger for best group costume.
The event was supported by Plunge Ambassador Charlie Phillips, a Special Olympics athlete who spent months raising awareness. The next Polar Plunge is in St. Joseph on Saturday, February 15.
