St. Joseph police investigating shooting inside Walmart

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - St. Joseph police are investigating a shooting that took place Sunday morning at the North Belt Walmart.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11 a.m. and found a juvenile victim near the store’s south entrance with a gunshot wound to the leg. The injury was non-life-threatening.

Police say the suspect, also a juvenile, fled the scene and was likely picked up by a vehicle. Despite an extensive search, the suspect has not been located.

Investigators believe the victim and suspect know each other, but a motive has not been determined.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact St. Joseph police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at (816) 238-8477.
