COLUMBUS, Neb. - Nebraska Public Power District will begin inspections on its power infrastructure across the state this month.

The inspections, conducted by Osmose Utility Services, will continue through June and focus on identifying and addressing decay in wood poles before they fail.

Crews will assess distribution, subtransmission, and transmission systems, including ground line excavation and rehabilitation treatment. Inspections will take place in multiple communities.

Doug Meyers, NPPD Senior Project Coordinator, says the proactive program helps maintain reliability and prevent failures.

Crews will be in high-visibility vests, using UTVs to move between poles, while NPPD line crews will patrol transmission lines by helicopter and vehicle.

Customers with questions can call 1-877-ASK-NPPD (275-6773) to be connected with an NPPD representative.
