New prenatal service will soon be launched in Northwest Missouri

A new prenatal service will soon be launched in northwest Missouri. Mosiac Medical Center-Maryville and Mosiac Medical Center in Albany will soon make prenatal care for expectant mothers more accessible. Women's Health and Maternity provider at Mosaic Medical Center-Maryville, Dr. Lorraine Dodson says she will partner with Albany physician Dr. Angelia Martin for improved prenatal care in the region.

"Dr. Martin is a board certified family practice physician who has had some obstetrical experience in the past. Wer'e hoping to transition a majority of the prenatal vistits for uncomplicated patients to her in Albany so patients dont have to travel quite so far.", says Dodson.

Dr. Dodson says a 2020 study shows Missouri's maternal mortality rate is the 44th worst in the nation.

We're hoping that by making prenatal care more easily accessible that we mitigate some of those risk factors that are keeping people from seeking prental care even sooner than the issues arise.", Dodson says.
