A new manufacuting plant is coming to St. Joseph. According to a release from the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce, Nortian Foodtech, LLC will build a new facility in the Stockyards Industrial Park. The approximate 160 thousand square foot facility will be located on a 24-acre tract of heavy industrial land currently owned by the City of St. Joseph. The total project includes an estimated 22 million dollar investment of building and equipment over a five-year period. The company expects to hire at least 138 employees by the end of year five of operations.
Nortian Foodtech converts by-products from the meat industry into food-grade protein. Talks to bring Nortian Foodtech to St. Joseph began last July and were coordinated by the St. Joseph Economic Development Partnership and the Chamber of Commerce.
