Two children, ages twelve and thirteen were life-flighted to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City following a one vehicle accident near Bethany, Missouri Sunday night. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred about 11:30 PM when a 2003 Cadillac, driven by a 19 year old man was traveling East on Route Y about ten miles Northeast of Bethany.
The driver failed to negotiate a small right hand curve. The car travelled off the north side of the roadway and down a steep embankment. The front end of the vehicle struck an embankment and became airborne, crossing East 295th Street. After striking several trees, the vehicle came to rest on its wheels.
The twelve and thirteen year old passengers were transported to Children's Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. Neither the driver nor the passengers were wearing seatbelts.
