Police say no credible threat behind swatting calls to Northwest, North Nodaway

Swatting calls

Northwest Missouri State University and the North Nodaway School District received similar "swatting calls" Wednesday morning. The call at Northwest came in at 11:30 to the University's main phone line and threatened gun violence on the campus. University Police searched and cleared campus facilities, including Horace Mann Laboratory School. No credible threat was found. University Police Chief Amanda Cullin says an investigation has begun from information obtained during the call.

"Our next step as far as investigation is working with our federal partners to help collarborate investigations and see if something can be done based on where this information came from.", Chief Cullin says.

According to a letter from North Nodaway Superintendent Chris Turpin, posted on the North Nodaway Facebook page, a call to the North Nodaway Elementary School was received at noon yesterday and focused on teachers of the high school. As a precaution, the North Nodaway Elementary and High School buildings were put in lockdown and law enforcement soon arrived securing the buildings.
