CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Authorities in Chillicothe are investigating a shooting that hospitalized an 18-year-old male early Sunday morning. Officers were alerted to the victim’s arrival at Hedrick Medical Center around 2:11 a.m.

His condition has not been disclosed, but criminal charges against him are pending. During the investigation, police conducted a traffic stop, leading to evidence related to the shooting.

A woman and her child were taken to the police department, with the child later released to a family member.

Law enforcement, including the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol, later executed a search warrant on Walnut Street, resulting in the arrests of an adult male and female.

Both are being held in Caldwell County on charges including unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with evidence, and child endangerment. A vehicle linked to the incident has been secured as evidence.

Authorities say the shooting was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to public safety. The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Chillicothe Police Department.
