Approved expansion with Maryville Public Safety and Maryville Board of Educators

The Maryville Board of Education approved expanding an agreement with Maryville Public Safety during last week's board meeting. Currently, the agreement calls for one School Resource Officer, who works with all school officials and students in the district. Interim Superintendent Philip Pohren says the new agreement adds one more officer to help with the needs of the district.

"We found that we have grown as a district and we have really more needs amongst everyone in society. We just have the need for that additional support for our current SRO.", says Pohren.

Pohren says School Resource Officers doing educational work through the DARE and other programs helps set a good tone between law enforcement students in the Maryville School District.
