Harrison County has been designated an Agri-Ready County

Harrison County has been designated an Agri-Ready County by Missouri Farmers Care, recognizing its commitment to agricultural growth and rural economic development.

The designation follows the repeal of a local ordinance that conflicted with state law on confined animal feeding operations. With that change, the county commission moved quickly to apply for the designation.

Agriculture plays a major role in Harrison County’s economy, generating over $177 million in output and supporting nearly 1,700 jobs, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture.

The designation also brings ag education to local classrooms through the Agriculture Education on the Move program, in partnership with FFA chapters.

Harrison County is now the 77th county in Missouri to earn the Agri-Ready status.
