Virtual public hearing to evaluate Evergy's proposal of new 4 megawatt natural gas plant

The Missouri Public Service Commission holds a virtual public hearing today to evaluate a proposal from Evergy to build a new 4 megawatt natural gas plant in Nodaway County. Evergy announced plans last week for the plant, which is to be built south of Maryville, and would help the company supply power to the region in times of high usage. Director of Corporate Communications with Evergy, Gina Penzig, says the virtual public hearing is scheduled for noon.

"Any Evergy customers are eligilble to partipcate in if they want to listen to lern more or if they have comments to submit." says Penzig.

Construction on the proposed natural gas power plant in Nodaway County is expected to be completed by the late 2029 or early 2030.
