A bill is being considered to create a county sports complex authority in Clay County, Missouri

In their final week of the regular legislative session, the Missouri Senate has been considering a bill that would create a county sports complex authority in Clay County, Missouri. According to the bill's sponsor, Kurtis Gregory of Marshall, the bill would allow both the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs to move to Clay County.

"What is the state of Missouri going to do to try to keep the Royals and Chiefs inside the state of Missouri? I have been asking that question sort of ever sense. The initial bill that I had that was a part of that puzzle was the Clay County Sports Authority and that was just a small piece of the puzzle.", says Gregory.

During discussion on the floor of the Missouri Senate, Senator Barbara Anne Washington of Kansas City point to that city's sports history.

"Both of these Kansas City area stadiums sit in and have always sat in my community and my district. I thought that we could talk a little bit about the impact of what began as the Truman Sports Commplex.", says Washington.

The Senate set the bill aside for futher consideration. The regular legsilative session ends tomorrow.
