Daily Premium Meats will be expanding it's St. Joseph Plant

A local meat producer will be expanding it's St. Joseph Plant with the goal of doubling its bacon production. Director of Communications and Marketing, Kristi Bailey says the major expansion of Daily Premium Meats is a big win for St. Joseph.

"They're investing 95 million dollars into their St. Joseph location. Right now, Daily's produces 2.5% of the nations bacon and will double that to 5% of the nation's bacon when its finishhed.", says Bailey.

Bailey says Daily Premium Meats will invest about $95 million dollars in building construction and new equipment. She adds the company selected St. Joseph for the expansion in part due to incentives such as the Chapter 100 program, Missouri works, and a utility economic development rider from Evergy and Spire, Incorporated. The Resolution of Intent for Chapter 100 is expected to go before the St. Joseph City Council on May 27. Daily Premium Meats expects to add between 90 and 115 new production jobs with a starting wage between $47,000 and $53,000.
