Knacktive is pitching real-world marketing campaigns to the New Nodaway Humane Society

Twenty-three students at Northwest Missouri State University wrapped up the spring Knacktive course by pitching real-world marketing campaigns to the New Nodaway Humane Society.

The winning team, Berry the Bearcat, created a campaign with ready-to-use flyers, donor letters, email templates, and social media strategies. Team members included Shelby Singleton, Syeira Tomory, Anna Ringel, Landon Jones, Sawyer Cross, Skyler Stamps, and Kate Walker.

Board member Wes Rockwood says the shelter will use ideas from all the teams, calling the pitches a “unique opportunity” to build a stronger plan.

Knacktive simulates a professional agency setting, assigning students roles like project manager or art director. This semester’s challenge focused on creating low-cost, high-impact fundraising tools for a nonprofit.

Faculty advisor Brenda Jones says the experience teaches students to dig deeper into client needs and think creatively when budgets are tight.

Launched in 2011, Knacktive continues to give students hands-on experience with real clients—and a strong portfolio for life after graduation.
