Ordinance approved to allow drive through windows at marijuana dispensaries and liquor stores

The Maryville City Council approved an ordinance that allows drive through windows at marijuana dispensaries and liquor stores. Interim City Manager Ryan Heiland says the council made the decision to be in compliance with the Department of Health and Senior Services regulations that allow for drive-through establishments for dispensaries.

"Apparently the Maryville city code doesn't mention that or even reflect marijuana sales for drive through so to be able to be in compliance with that DHSS policy is why we did that amendment.", says Heiland.

Heiland adds during their study of the issue, the council looked into similar types of uses or issues that may arise, leading to an ordinance that also included an ruling dealing with drive-thru windows for liquor sales, which was not covered under previous city codes.

"They did approve that with a condition that both liquor and marijuana sales have camera and videotape windows.", says Heiland.

The next Maryville City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 9.
