Precautionary boil advisory following a water main break on East South Avenue

The City of Maryville has updated a precautionary boil advisory originally issued Tuesday for residents in a portion of the east side of the city. The voluntary boil order includes residences along East South Avenue between South Saunders and South Hester Streets. Interim City Manager Ryan Heiland says the boil order is precautionary and officials don't suspect problems with tap water in tht area. It was originally issued following a water main break on East South Avenue near South Saunders Street that required replacement of a pipe.

"Now we don't think there is anything wrong, but just to be on the safe side, we ordered a precautionary boil order with that. We anticipate Friday afternoon being able to lift that.", says Heiland.

According to a post on the city's Facebook page, the city will flush the affected water mains to remove any residual discoloration from the system once repairs are completed. Anyone experience discolored water after that work is complete is encouraged to contact the Public Works Department at 660-562-8012.
