The Missouri Department of Transportation is working in Kansas City on extensive upgrades to the interstate 70 corridor. The work includes road realignments, bridge replacements, and pedestrian safety projects. Overall, 15 bridges are due to be demolished and rebuilt at a higher clearance. Another seven are scheduled for repairs. Project Manager with Mo-DOT James Pflum discussed the work currently underway at the 23rd street bridge, near the city's downtown.
Motorists along the I-70 corridor can expect impacts including delays, partial closures, and night work. The construction is taking place in phases, and will not be complete until early 2028.
