Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County is celebrating the recent completion of a new home in Maryville: the thirteenth home that the local group has built in the region since 2004.
Habitat for Humanity is nation-wide non-profit Christian organization which uses volunteer labor, a pay-it-forward finanical model, and donated materials to build good quality homes for families in need. Partner families assist with the construction and purchase the lower-cost home at zero-interest. Their payments help finance future Habitat for Humanity building projects.
Hilary Steinman has been awarded the chance to purchase the organization's new home through a zero-intrest mortgage after fulfilling the employment and financial criteria. She was filled with emotion when the Habitat Board members presented her with the announcement. The newly constructed hosue is approximately 1,340 square feet and features three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The local chapter here in Nodaway County partnered with students in the building trades program at the Northwest Technical School in Maryville to build this latest project. Habitat for Humanity of Nodaway County has teamed up with the building trades program through Northwest Technical School since 2020. The new home is located on South Mulberry Street. The organization is hosting an open house on Saturday the 21st at 10 AM to congratulate the family on their new home and recognize the community partnerships which made it possible.
