Classes are not in session but that doesn't mean work in the Maryville R-2 School District stops for the summer. Interim Superintendent, Phil Pohren says the building trades program in the district has made arrangements for another construction project in the upcoming year.
Pohren says, "We have an opportunity to go into the Tranquility Court subdivision and through the generosity of Double B developments. We will have a lot that our students can go the course of this next school year and begin working on a home that will then be sold. It's just a great opportunity for our students to engage in real life activities."
Pohren adds the Building Trades class recently worked with the city of Maryville to build the visitor center at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park. You can hear more about their work and other upcoming plans for the school district during the Spoofhound Spotlight airing on 90.5 and 88.9 Monday morning at 9:00.
