Miss Missouri and Miss Missouri Teen pageants kick off today
The Miss Missouri and Miss Missouri Teen pageants kick off in Mexico, Missouri, today. The pageant features competition for talent, evening wear, fitness, and an on-stage interview question, along with a pre-competition interview with a panel of judges. 22 teens from across the state will be participating in this pageant throughout the week, including Miss Maryville Teen Addison Ditamore from Lee's Summit. While a variety of competition areas will be showcased over the next few days, interviews were conducted before the pageant had begun, solidifying Ditamore's confidence as she prepares to hit the stage.Each delegate is required to have a "community service initiative," which is an organization or cause supported through service, leadership, and advocacy. Ditamore's project "Answering the Call: War Horses for Veterans" focuses on the mental health of military service members and first responders. This is a cause deeply personal to Ditamore for many reasons.Both the Miss Missouri and Miss Missouri Teen competitions will continue through tomorrow. The next Miss Missouri Teen will be crowned on Friday, June 13, at Missouri Military Academy.
