Saddle up, and get over to the Patee House Museum this Saturday. No matter how far you travel to get there, it's likely you won't have come the farthest.
That's because the National Pony Express 'RE-RIDER' will be arriving at the St Joseph-based Museum sometime around 7:30 PM, in a re creation of the historic Pony Express Route, stretching all the way to Sacramento.
Each year, the National Pony Express Association recreates the Legendary mail route that once connected St. Joe to California. Riders relay a Mochila carrying commermorative letters across the eight states.
Patee Museum Director Gary Chilcote says the relay has been run many times before, but remains a remarkable journey.
The Patee House Museum invites the public to experience a tradition starting back 160 years ago.
