Record breaking rainfall, recorded at the Kansas City International Airport -- that's the headline from the latest round of severe weather, which moved through the region this week. The storm system soaked much of central and northern Missouri throughout the day on Tuesday. Forecaster with the National Weather Service at the Pleasant Hill Office Brad Temeyer says the record accumulation was recorded at the airport.

That was Tuesday afternoon. As it continued north, the storm hammered Northern Missouri, leading to flooding in low lying areas. Teymeyer says other impacts included strong wind.

And just east of Kansas City a tornado brought down powerlines and trees, but stopped short of more severe damage. Temeyer reports the most significant aspect of the storm was how much moisture it created, including those record-breaking levels. Looking ahead, the forecast remains unsettled, with possible storms later this week and through the weekend.
