Road improvement projects in St. Joseph

The streets of St. Joseph are clogged these days, not with traffic, but road improvement projects, construction workers, and detours. This week, motorists can add Route 36 to the list of closures, with night scheudled for Monday and Tuesday. The Missouri Department of Transportation says the work will close access ramps between 8 pm to 6 pm. The project focuses on asphalt repair and resurfacing. It will impact high-traffic intersections from Riverside Road in the east to 22nd street in the West, including intersections with Interstate 29 and 169. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Visit traveler.MOdot.org for details on all the latest roads conditions and closures. Work in Maryville will also cause closures. Begining today, Monday, the Southern end of Main Street near the intersection with Highway 71 will close overnight as crews perform sewer and culvert work under the roadway. Motorists wishing to access Maryville from the south will be directed to detour along South Avenue. Work will continue throughout this week.
