Do you know of anyone that has done a great job this last year taking care of the trees in your town?
It's official the nominations for the Arbor Award of Excellence are open.
The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Community Forestry Council are accepting nominations for the award. The award recognizes individuals, communities and organinzations that have made significant changes to better the trees for their community.
Anything that has happened over the last two years that happened in the betterment of the trees in eligible for the award.
Winners for the award receive multiple things, such as a framed award, registration scholarship to go the Forestry Council conference happening in September, a forestry reference book, and a $50 gift card.
Past winners of the award include Rockhurst University for its commitment to trees in the Kansas City area, and the city of St. Joseph for a tree planting project. Nominations are due by Monday, August 18.
