Extreme Heat Warning for surrounding counties

Maryville, MO weather today

The National Weather Service Office in Pleasant Hill, Missouri has issued an extreme heat warning for Nodaway, Andrew, Atchison, Gentry, Worth, and Holt Counties.

Elsewhere in the reigon, the Weather Serivce has issued a heat watch.

The advisories are in effect until 7 PM on Tuesday evening. The heat index could reach 110, or even 115 degrees in Maryville, St Joseph, and Chillicothe. Overnight temperatures near 80 degrees are expected.

Last week, extreme heat was moderated by storms in the region.

Forecasts call for rain by Wednesday, which could bring relief.

The City of Maryville notes the Public Library, the Nodaway County Administration Building, the Senior Center, and the Community Center are all public places with air conditioning available.

The Public Libraries in St Joseph, and the Chillicothe YMCA are all open for keeping cool as well.
